Examples
Explore ways to compose with sound, images, movement, and live input. These working scores range from a single technique—such as turning a tracked movement into a note—to audiovisual scenes that combine several media on one timeline.
Open a downloaded .score or .zip directly in score. Each example suggests what to look or listen for and changes you can try in your own work; many also explain how the patch works. Check its setup notes for any hardware, packages, or external services it needs.
When available, Try this on web opens the example in the browser edition. Hardware connections and some add-ons require the desktop application.
Categories
- Basics: Arrange media in time, build patches, and leave room for live cues.
- Device Examples: Turn controllers, phone sensors, and messages from other applications into performance inputs.
- Audio: Shape sound with synthesis, effects, sampling, and live looping.
- Video Examples: Process camera images, make audio-reactive visuals, and compose for projection.
- 3D Graphics: Animate scenes, grow procedural forms, and turn images or sound into geometry.
- Automation: Give parameters rhythmic motion or smooth the response of a live control.
- Tempo Examples: Keep musical patterns together as the pace changes.
- Advanced: Combine media, perform with code, and explore glitch and data-driven work.
- AI and tracking: Use tracked positions to play notes or animate geometry.
- Data processing: Scale and filter raw values, route them, and build evolving feedback.
Choose a starting point
For a first score, start with Basics. For a performance instrument, explore the audio and device examples together. For an installation, pair a video or 3D example with a controller or tracking example.
Try one change at a time: listen to a different modulation rate, watch how a feedback setting changes a trail, or map a familiar effect to a new control. Once the relationship is clear, reuse that part of the patch in your own score.
